International Academic Competitions is pleased to announce that the 2025 Online Geography Bowl of Asia & Europe will be held on Saturday, May 17. This tournament will run on our Geography Bowl Question Set, and is open to all schools and students (regardless of the city or country of their location). Please note that this tournament will also include teams from Asia, so it will be an exciting chance to compete with students from a different set of schools than you normally would get a chance to play! Please also see the Resources Page on the menu bar for examples of Geography Bowl questions (these will be posted in advance of the tournament).
Please note that uniquely, teams in the Geography Bowl consist of at most two students playing at any time who must attend the same school. Solo-student teams are permitted; teams may carry at most one substitute player (thus the maximum team size is three, but only two students can play at once). The cost is $100 USD per team, regardless of whether this is a team of one student or two. Please note that this tournament will feature up to 4 teams competing together at once. The rules are slightly adjusted to account for this. You can view the Geography Bowl rules here on the National Geography Bowl page (which is an equivalent competition for students in the USA) though note the tournament format will be different. All teams are guaranteed five rounds of competition: Rounds 4 and 5 will be playoff rounds for the top teams, and placement rounds for the other teams.
The Online Geography Bowl does not qualify students for an equivalent event at the European Championships but students who finish in the top 50% qualify for the 2026 International Geography Championships.
Registration for the Online Geography Bowl will open by early 2025 on the registration page here and will run through Friday, May 9. For further questions, please contact the International Academic Competitions European Director, Ms. Nolwenn Madden at nolwenn@iacompetitions.com
Thanks for your interest in our tournament, and we hope that you and your school will be able to join us!
